Angelo Rizzelli was born in Andrano in the province of Lecce on February 24, 1940. After graduating from the Liceo Artistico di Lecce he moved to Matera in 1972 where he taught drawing, art education, and the history of art for both the elementary and high school levels.
His works can be found in numerous public and private collections, including the Gabinetto delle Stampe Antiche e Moderne del Comune di Bagnacavallo and the Civic Print Collection of Achille Bertarelli in the Castle Sforza in Milan.
Recently Rizzelli's work took first prize in the Ex Libris competition sponsored by the city of Mestre.
